If you found an egg and it has a rotton odor and/or is cracked throw it away and wash your hands. If you have found an egg on the ground and it has no rotten odor and is not cracked, bring it to me so I can determine which species it is and if I should bring it to another rehabilitator. If you have a baby bird, you need to be observant on deciding whether the bird is orphan or not. If the bird is fully feathered, you can place it where you found it (even if that's on the ground and it can't fly), this is normal and the parents continue to care for it at this time. If you found the bird on the ground and it dosn't have alot of feathering and it is still bald in some places, try to look from where it fell, look thoroughly through a nearby tree and if you find a nest full of similiar looking birds put it back (if it is not injured.) If it is injured bring it to a different nearby rehabilitator. You can find one at www.southeasternoutdoors.com/wildlife/rehabilitators/michigan-rehabilitators.html"After you place a bird back in the nest check back several times during the day to see if it gets pushed out a again and if it is being fed and warmed. If the bird gets pushed out again or is not being fed(you can tell by the "bump" that stores food on the side of the chick's neck), then please press the Continue button.

If you have determined that the bird is orphan/not being cared for and uninjured please Continue

***Never try to hatch eggs or care for chicks by yourself. Rehabilitators are there because they have special equiptment and knowledge for doing so.
